Museum in Residence
Project type
Art
Date
2026
Presented by Spazio Tilde as part of the 11th edition of the ArtDate Contemporary Art Festival, the exhibition responded to the theme “Suspended Time”, a reflection on the uncertainty, vulnerability, and anticipation that defined a historical moment in which we were all both participants and witnesses.
The exhibition hosted the Residence Museum, a nomadic, non-profit collection of pocket-sized artworks donated by contemporary artists. Founded in early 2020 by artist Lizi Sanchez, the museum has no permanent location and was conceived as a collaborative network that can travel and grow through the contributions of artists.
For the museum, Malatesta contributed a work consisting of a photograph and a recipe that functions as a set of instructions for recreating the Cracker Mask sculpture wherever the museum travels, emphasising the artwork's capacity to be transmitted, re-enacted, and continually reframed.
During the exhibition, a series of workshops with local schools further expanded this collaborative approach, inviting participants to engage directly with the museum's evolving collection and artistic processes.
