Drawing on nearly a decade of experience as a baker working with locally milled grains and naturally fermented bread, Marisol's practice explores the relationship between physical labor, intuition, and image-making. The Fool's Paradise is an ongoing series of paintings and drawings that transforms the everyday rituals of the bakery into fictional narratives populated by characters, ovens, and bread.
Rooted in lived experience, her work examines the tension between bodily exhaustion and sensory pleasure through dreamlike, geometric spaces that blur the boundaries between industry, memory, and imagination. Influenced by growing up in the desert city of Ica, the artist frequently returns to the sun as a recurring symbol—at once life-giving and destructive—using bread, fire, wheat, and architectural forms to reflect on transformation, contradiction, and the fragile balance between creation and decay
